Paisley Real Estate and Homes for Sale
As a real estate agent who specializes in Paisley, let me be your guide to what Paisley Ontario has to offer as a neighbourhood to finding homes for sale in the area.
Known as the “Village of Bridges”, Paisley is located at the union of the Teeswater and the Saugeen Rivers in the municipality of Arran-Elderslie. Surrounded by rich farmland, rolling hills and crisp, clear water, the village is perfect for the sports enthusiast. There are four riverfront access points for canoeing, kayaking and fishing, as well as several scenic walking and biking trails. Sports are a year round passion in Paisley with snowshoeing, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing popular activities for the active winter athlete.
Paisley was settled in 1851 when Simon Orchard and Samuel Rowe loaded their family and belongings onto a raft in Walkerton and floated down the Saugeen River in search of a place to call home. They settled at the spot where the Teeswater and Saugeen Rivers meet and were later joined by other family members. The village was first known as Mud River but the name was changed in 1872 in honour of a town in Scotland where many of the settlers first lived.
Today, the village maintains its close-knit feeling with a vibrant mix of family-owned shops and businesses. In keeping with its spirit of community, volunteers from the Paisley Chamber of Commerce put out a monthly newspaper called The Paisley Advocate filled with local articles, photographs and event information. While the village may be small, service clubs, churches and recreational groups such as the Horticultural Society offer plenty of opportunities to socialize.
If you are looking for a home in a community where you can greet your neighbours by name, Paisley is the place to be. Its scenic waterfront area, quaint business district and friendly residents make Paisley a special place to live, whether you are looking for farmland, a stately Victorian home or a vacation property.
